Seabourn Legend

The Seabourn Legend carries 200 passengers in elegant style. One of the most impressive onboard features is her staterooms. 90% of them are are a whopping 277 square feet, some with French balconies. The balance are suites ranging in size from 400-575 square feet. They are all furnished in light pastel colors. I noticed that the soft goods were in excellent condition. I am certain they refurbish on a regular basis. The staterooms are extremely well-equipped. Each has a tv, vcr, safe, mini bar (with real crystal glasses), hair dryer, plush terry cloth bathrobes, walk-in closet and the largest picture window I have ever seen. Service and attention to detail are what sets this line apart from the rest. Basically, you can have whatever you want. All you need to do is ask. The staterooms are stocked with fifths of liquor, French champagne and other beverages of your choice, and you can have as much as you'd like. There is butler service in all staterooms. If you choose to dine in your room, the meals are served course-by-course. The unlimited caviar is something I shall never forget! And if there is something you would like to have the chef make for you (and it is not on the menu), he will do so, provided he has the ingredients onboard.

The dining room is single seating, and features continental cuisine. This cruise line emphasizes the use of herbs, rather than heavy sauces, which makes the meals flavorful, but not heavy. There is a second bistro-style restaurant, which serves breakfast and lunch buffet-style, and a more casual sit-down dinner. Themed meals are served there and the menus are chosen to compliment the itinerary (i.e. in on Asian voyages, they incorporate Thai, Indonesian, and Chinese menus.) There is a Sky Bar on the top deck where you can enjoy a casual barbecue dinner as well. If you charter the ship (which in my opinion is certainly the way to go) you can have a "dinner under the stars" on the pool deck. There is enough open space to seat 200 passengers for a full sit-down dinner outside "en pleine air". I highly recommend the experience.

The ship's theater, the King Olav Lounge, features cabaret-style entertainment and seats the ship's compliment nicely. This is a pleasant switch from the usual "production shows" on larger ships. Our cruise featured one of the best ventriloquists I have seen, in addition to several nightclub singers. Seating is on club chairs and banquettes. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming.

There are two additional lounges - The Club, and the Midnight Sun Lounge with wonderfully large windows - perfect for cocktail parties, meetings and pre-dinner hors d'oeuvres. The casino features two blackjack tables, a roulette wheel and several slot machines. I was pleasantly surprised to see the minimum blackjack bet was only $5.

Seabourn operates programs of varying lengths. However, if you would like to create your own segment in 2004 and beyond, Seabourn will do their best to carve one out for you. I must say that they are one of the most pleasant companies to work. Seabourn will not disappoint you on any level!
